Dr. Atomic #5 comes nearly three years after the previous issue, though the characters did show up in other comic books in the interim. Three of those appearances are collected in this issue, including stories that appeared
in Compost
Comix, Occult Laff Parade and Flash magazine.
The best of those three is "Telephone Booth to Nirvana," mostly because we
finally get to see the lovely Holly in a state of undress!
There are also three
new stories presented, and they are all pretty good; the best may be "Robot's
Reward," in which Dr. Atomic constructs a miniature cosmic black hole
and accidentally falls into it. Billy and Holly try to rescue him,
but it's up to a pizza delivery boy and Dr. Atomic's Robot to save the day. Reading the story is actually a bit cumbersome with all the scientific terminology thrown in (made worse
by the printing being so small), but the story is still quite an adventure.
