Slow Death #3 opens with
a classic Richard Corben story, "A Dumb Story," in which an idyllic culture
compromises its values to gain technological advancements and lives (and
dies) to regret it. This solid comic continues with disturbing post-apocalyptic
tales until it ends with Larry Welz's "The Sleeping Continent," a terrific
story with an ending we can only hope is prophetic.

HISTORICAL FOOTNOTES:
There are four known printings of this comic book, all by Last Gasp. They are easily distinguished by minor cover and price changes. The 1st printing has a Pentagram Press logo below the Last Gasp logo. On the 2nd printing, the Pentagram Press logo has been replaced with "Over 50,000 Sold!" Both of these printings have 50-cent covers. On the 3rd printing, the "Over 50,000 Sold!" has been replaced by a blank gray circle, and it has a 75-cent cover price. The 4th printing is the same as the 3rd except it has a $1.00 cover price.
It is currently unknown how many copies were produced for any of the printings. Of course, one would presume that since the 2nd printing states "Over 50,000 sold!" that there were at least 50,000 copies of the 1st printing. But since there were only 20,000 copies produced for the 1st printings of #1 and #2, 50,000 seems unlikely. Then again, Ron Turner probably wouldn't lie about that. Perhaps there were two printings that are indistinguishable from each other before the "2nd" printing makes that bold proclamation of "Over 50,000 Sold!"
