Visual Guide to Seven Printings
_
The following seven sets of graphics replicate two areas on each of the seven printings of Skull Comics #2. The top graphic is always from the indicia on the inside front covers. The bottom graphic is always from the back covers. Each of the seven printings is different in one or both areas, as shown and described.
1st printing
^ 1st Printing ^
_
The 1st printing has variations of the following address on the indicia and the back cover: 15 Shattuck Sq. #204, Berkeley 94704. Note the style of hand lettering on both addresses and the presence or absence of commas. The 1st printing is the only printing of the book that has this address in both areas.
_
2nd printing
^ 2nd Printing ^
_
The 2nd printing has one change: on the back cover, the Shattuck address has been changed to Post Office Box 212. Note that there is no comma after 212. All other elements from the 1st printing remain the same.
_
3rd printing
^ 3rd Printing ^
_
The 3rd printing has one change: on the indicia, the Shattuck address has been changed to Post Office Box 212. It appears that a photocopy of the address from the back cover has been used to make this change, as the lettering is identical. Note that there is no comma after 212. Also note that the change in address has caused the comma from the previous address to disappear and the "B" in Berkeley to have a skinnier vertical stroke than in the previous two printings. This is due to the new paste-up slightly overlapping the original commma and the "B" in the layout. All other elements from the 2nd printing remain the same.
_
4th printing
^ 4th Printing ^
_
The 4th printing has one change: on the back cover, the Post Office Box 212 address has been blacked out. All other elements from the 3rd printing remain the same.
_
5th printing
^ 5th Printing ^
_
The 5th printing has two changes that affect several elements: on the indicia, the Post Office Box 212 address has moved slightly (tilting down at the left) and has had a comma added after the address. This change also causes the "B" in Berkeley to go back to its full vertical stroke, as it was in the 3rd printing. The "P" in the address also has a printing glitch, so it does not print completely. On the back cover, the Post Office Box 212 address is still blacked out, but the shape of the black out has changed. This is due to somebody "cleaning up" the shape. All other elements from the 4th printing remain the same.
_
6th printing
^ 6th Printing ^
_
The 6th printing has one change: on the back cover, the Post Office Box 212 address is no longer blacked out. It now reads the same as it used to read in the 3rd printing, but the position of the address has changed slightly from the 3rd printing (it is better aligned with the remaining address). All other elements from the 5th printing remain the same, including the printing glitch on the "P" and the new comma in the indicia, which both showed up on the 5th printing.
_
7th printing
^ 7th Printing ^
_
The 7th printing has two changes: on the back cover, the Berkeley, 94704part of the address has been redone with new lettering, to better match the existing lettering. A comma has also been added after 212, to match the comma that was added to the indicia in the 5th printing. On the indicia, the printing glitch on the "P" has now been fixed. All other elements from the 6th printing remain the same.
