REVIEW SCORE 6
Barbarian Comics #1 features a two-chapter story, "Sun and Steel," which is about a barbaric war between groups of (surprise!) barbarians. The plot is fairly inscrutable and the wordless action panels somewhat hard to follow. Bob Sidebottom ran California Comics, which published this mess, and I'm still not sure what he saw in this story that inspired him to publish it (he published several other fine undergrounds). Perhaps Conan-type stories are just not my cup of tea after all. The cover does feature a cool background of silver metallic ink.
