Inner City Romance
Despite Harvey's bitter declaration on this cover, American Splendor #15 is a another classic issue featuring slices of Harvey's everyday life. It took 13 years after this book was published (and over a dozen more American Splendor comic books were published by Dark Horse) before Harvey's life was finally documented on film in an award-winning movie starring Paul Giamatti, called (what else?) "American Splendor." Full review coming soon.
It is currently unknown how many copies of this comic book were printed. Pekar was known to have printed approximately 5,000 copies of early issues of the book, but that may have changed for later issues. This issue has not been reprinted. This is the last issue that Pekar printed with his local printer in Cleveland. The final two issues were printed by Tundra Publishing and Dark Horse.
